Ecotherapy | Natural Leaders | and finding our tree

@mandilynncreative

every Wednesday I run a ecotherapy programme that is called Natural Leaders for kids who may have hit some roadblocks in their journey and could use some more support. We do it collaboration with Ngati Toa truancy services, Mangaroa farms and Nature's Vela. We are based in Upper Hutt New Zealand and we were in Kaitoke park for this adventure among the giant kauri and rata.

Ecotherapy is the use of the worlds best regulating tool with people who may experience disregulation.

When I was a kid I had a tree named Eve that saved my life.   When crap got real in our household I would take off running and tell Eve all about it.  I would run there completely disregulated furious and full of grief and rage and leave calm and centred...every time.

Much later in life when I found out there was a way to train as an ecotherapist...you couldn't sign me up fast enough.   The thought of being able to help people especially kids to process stuff using Mother Nature as my mentor.  Heck to the yes.

Now I run a program called Natural Leaders that works with kids who struggle with mainstream education or who may have experienced trauma in their lives.

The program is designed to create a safe container for sharing.  To help them identify their "wolves" or parts that are blocking their most beautiful parts from shining in the world.

Our teams goal is to help the boys in the Balanced Brotherhood crew and the girls in the Wilding Wise Women project to find tools to support regulation and build resilience.

This was one of my favourite activities we did with the kids.

Ecotherapy is one of the modalities I use when I work with private clients to help them identify and move past their blocks.
